Half centuries from openers Pinak Ghosh and Anamul Haque gave BCB South Zone a good start in the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League against Walton Central Zone at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
Winning the toss Central Zone opted to field first and found South Zone post 261 runs at the loss of five wickets at stumps on day one. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad bagged four wickets while left-arm pacer Abu Hider picked one for South Zone.
Central Zone wicket-keeper batsman Anamul and left-handed batter Pinak got Central Zone 137 runs for the first wicket. The partnership was broken when Murad dismissed Pinak on 65. Murad found his second wicket in Amite Hasan [10] and then pinned Anamul on 76 in front of the stumps.
With two quick fall of wickets – in Towhid Hridoy [0], the in-form batsman like Amite, and Mahedi Hasan [9], middle-order batters Zakir Hasan and captain Farhad Reza took charge and posted an unbeaten 80 runs for the sixth wicket before the umpires removed the bails to call it the day.
