Update : 29 Dec 2021, 05:42 PM

Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has become the fastest player to score past 4,000 Test runs and reach the 200-wicket milestone against Pakistan in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Wednesday.

Shakib achieved the feat in 59 Tests while England great Sir Ian Botham is second in the list having reached the landmark in 69 Tests.

Shakib now has 4,027 runs and 215 wickets in his Test career.

Sir Garfield Sobers (80 Tests), Kapil Dev (97 Tests), Daniel Vettori (101 Tests), Jacques Kallis (102 Tests) are the other great all-rounders in the list.

Shakib, who returned to Test cricket with this game after five months, scored highest for Bangladesh in both innings, making 33 and 63 respectively, but the Tigers surrendered meekly losing by an innings and eight runs.

Bangladesh will play their next Test series against New Zealand away which is also part of the World Test Championship.

Shakib took leave from the New Zealand Tests due to personal reasons.

Shakib has broken many records in his illustrious career across all formats, for instance he is the highest wicket taker in T20I cricket with 117 scalps from 94 matches.

Former Sri Lankan legendary pacer Lasith Malinga is second in this list with 107 wickets from 84 games.

Shakib also holds the record of being the fastest player to achieve a rare double in ODI cricket - scoring 6,000-plus runs and taking 250 or more wickets.
