Jalal replaces Akram as BCB cricket operations chairman

Veteran Bangladesh Cricket Board director Jalal Younus has been named chairman of BCB cricket operations and Khaled Mahmud the vice chairman of the department.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan following the second meeting of the newly formed board Friday announced the standing committee for the new term.
The chair for the BCB cricket operations was under limelight after Akram Khan last week revealed he doesn’t want to continue in the post citing personal reason.
Former Bangladesh captain Akram has been handed charge of facilities management and physically challenged, a wing that the board has been trying to develop for the past few years.
“I have told this before that I do not want to get directly involved with all matters of the board. It takes a lot of my time. The chairmen which we are naming [Friday] should be there to answer regarding their respective committees,” said Nazmul to the media following the meeting at BCB office premises.
"I would like to thank the BCB president for giving me such responsibility. Cricket operations is a very strong committee. I need support from everyone. We are passing a tough time but I will try my best to improve and develop our cricket", said newly elected cricket operations chairman Jalal.
The working committee of the board will be chaired by Enayet Husain Siraj while the media and communications department will be led by Tanvir Ahmed Titu with Jalal as the vice chairman.
Chairman for the game development and BCB High-Performance Unit remains the same with Mahmud and Naimur Rahman leading the two respective departments.
Sajjadul Alam has been handed charge of the tournament committee with Mahmud as the vice chairman.
Chairman for the grounds committee remained unchanged with Mahbub Anam staying in the position.
BCB has taken initiative to launch a new wing named Bangla Tigers under Kazi Inam Ahmed.
The wing will be responsible for nurturing the national discards with proper training program and facilities.
The age group [school cricket] and umpires committee will be led by two new board directors Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu and Salauddin Chowdhury respectively.
Sheikh Sohel remained chairman of BCB marketing/commercial and Bangladesh Premier League governing council.
