Rizwan credits coaches, former players for superb form

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is having a stellar run of form in T20I cricket as he has scored tons of runs in the last two years to become one of the best top-order batsmen in the shortest format.

He has scored 1,033 runs from 20 innings this year at a staggering average of 86.08 in T20Is and strike rate of 136.45.

He had a great T20 World Cup as well where he scored 281 runs from six innings at an average of 70.25.

Pakistan team are now in Bangladesh to play the three-match T20I and two-Test series and Rizwan credited his former coaches and players for helping him achieve tremendous success as a batsman in this format.

“I'm happy that I have scored the most runs in the calendar year. But I'm more delighted that I was able to secure this record for my country,” Rizwan said to the media.

“I would like to mention a few names who have helped me to achieve this like Richard Pybus, Inzamam ul Haq and Shahid Aslam. They have played a vital role for me in this journey.

"Also our former batting coach Younis Khan and current batting consultant Mathew Hayden helped a lot with sharing some useful information and techniques. Hayden's advises will surely prove useful for all the batters of Pakistan cricket team.”

Pakistan team are quite familiar to the pitch and condition in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and the visiting side are preparing for a competitive T20 series here.   

“We have seen in the recent past that the condition here in Bangladesh favors the spinners. The ball gets spin and grip here. I will start my practice (Tuesday) and will go to ground and then assess the condition here,” concluded Rizwan.
