The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for the first two one-day internationals of the three-match series against Ireland, excluding the veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.
Both Mahmudullah and Taijul were in the ODI squad in the recently concluded ODI series against England where Bangladesh lost 1-2.
Mahmudullah has scored 4950 runs in his ODI career so far with an average of 35.35 and strike rate of 76.17.
He has scored 71 runs in the recently concluded England ODI series from three innings with the strike rate of 66.98
In the year of 2022, Mahmudullah scored 410 runs with an average of 51.25 with the strike rate of 69.25 in fifty over format. .
Meanwhile, chief selector Minhajul Abedin has said to media that Mahumudullah has not been dropped from the ODI set-up and he has been rested as BCB wants to give chance to young players in the Ireland series.
Middle-order batsman Yasir Ali Chowdhury, pacer Shoriful Islam and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed returned while Zakir Hasan is the new face in the squad.
All matches of the three-ODI series will be played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, on March 18, 20 and 23 respectively.
