Bangladesh's young right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud aims to finish with 500 wickets under his belt at the end of his international career.

Hasan till date has played 11 Twenty20 internationals and six one-day internationals and has been brilliant for Bangladesh in the death overs.

In Bangladesh's historic win in the first T20I of the three-match series against visitors England in Chittagong last week, Hasan had steered the momentum in favor of the home side.

The 23-year old had conceded just five runs in his final two overs and dismissed two vital English batters, including captain Jos Buttler.

This saw the tourists finish on 156 for six which Bangladesh chased down in dominating fashion and registered their first ever win in the format against England.

Speaking to the media ahead of the second T20I, Hasan said with winning momentum on their side, the home team would give all effort to win the match and seal the series with a game to spare against the reigning world champions.

“My thinking is that I need to focus ball by ball. If I am able to bowl one dot ball, my focus shifts to the next one. Even if I get hit for a boundary, I try to stick to my strength which I enjoy as well. I like to show my character in tough times and take the challenge. Obviously, I would like to have 500 wickets beside my name when I finish my career,” said Hasan at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Saturday.

Hasan had emerged as the joint highest wicket-taker in the Bangladesh Premier League 2023 playing for Rangpur Riders.

The speedster bagged 17 wickets in 14 games with an economy of 7.98.

While discussing his BPL feat, Hasan informed that the sporting wickets in the tournament was a struggle for the bowlers in a good way as it would help them develop and make use of the experience at the international level where competition is intense and margin of error slim.

“I think the pitches were good during the BPL and the bowlers had to face challenges and we had to struggle whenever we had to defend. I think we will be able to learn how to bowl on such pitches against good batters and we will try to improve,” said the Bangladesh fast bowler.
