Bangladesh national team head coach Russell Domingo has resigned amid speculation that the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] has been mulling to sack him. BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Younus confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday morning.
Domingo's decision to step down from the Bangladesh job came just after two days of conclusion of the home series against India. Domingo flew back to South Africa, his home, right after the series where Bangladesh recorded a 2-1 win in the ODIs and lost the two Tests.
BCB had a contract with the South African coach till the 2023 ODI World Cup, which is set to be played in in India in October-November.

Domingo took over as head coach in September 2019, just months after the BCB fired Steve Rhodes following that year's World Cup. Bangladesh won T20I series at home against Australia and New Zealand, a Test in New Zealand (for the first time), an ODI series in South Africa, and an ODI series at home against India under him.
It was wide established that the BCB is unhappy with Domingo's way of work. According to close sources to the policy makers of the board, Domingo is not being able to show enough managerial skills and inspire the cricketers.

There was also observation of the BCB that Domingo is not enough available in Bangladesh when there are no international cricket activities.
Bangladesh will play their next international series, at home, against England. The English side is scheduled to reach Bangladesh February 20 next year for three ODIs and as many T20Is.
It is understood that the BCB has already decided on the possible names that can replace Domingo but it is yet not decided if a new name will be appointed ahead of the series against England.

In case the board doesn't appoint a new coach ahead of the series against England, Bangladesh will be under guidance of Sridharan Sriram, who ran the Bangladesh dressing room as the Technical Consultant in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia earlier this year. In case Sriram doesn't agree, the team will be operated by batting coach Jamie Siddons and fast bowling coach Allan Donald.
