Left-handed batter Afif Hossain once again stood his ground to help the Bangladesh innings recover from a position of jeopardy.

Bangladesh were 60 for three in 8.4 overs against the Netherlands when Afif, batting at No 5, went to the middle and joined Shakib al Hasan.

Afif on the day found a strong partner in wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan and the duo added 44 off 37 balls for the sixth wicket with Afif scoring the most.

Nurul departed in the first ball of the 18th over scoring 13 off 18 deliveries.

Afif went back to the dressing room in the last ball of the over but after mending yet another Bangladesh innings, making 38 off 27 involving two boundaries and two over boundaries; total reading 129 for seven in the 18th over.

The last push in the innings came from Mosaddek Hossain as he hit a fiery unbeaten 12-ball 20 to propel Bangladesh to 144 for eight after 20 overs.
