Indian women’s cricket team romped to the Asia Cup Twenty20 2022 final after thrashing Thailand by 74 runs in Thursday’s first semi-final in Sylhet.
Six-time winners India have now been to seven Asia Cup finals; their only blemish coming in the 2018 final against an inspired Bangladesh side.
They will face Sri Lanka in Saturday’s final.
Asked to bat first, India posted 148/6 riding on opener Shafali Verma (42 off 28) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (36 off 30).
In reply, hapless Thailand were restricted to 74/9 with only two players – skipper Naruemol Chaiwai (21) and Nattaya Boochatham (21) – reaching double digit.
Deepti Sharma starred for India with 3/7 from her quota of four overs while Rajeshwari Gayakwad took 2/10 in her four overs.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka contested Thursday’s second semi-final in the afternoon where the Lankans prevailed by just one run in a thriller.
