Sabbir Rahman returned to the national T20I side after three years as Bangladesh were invited to bat first after Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss in their do or die Asia Cup encounter in Dubai Thursday.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz was also included in the side alongside debutant Ebadat Hossain as Anamul Haque, Mohammad Naim and Saifuddin made way.
Sri Lanka made just the one change, handing a debut to Asitha Fernando, who replaced Matheesha Pathirana.
Shakib al Hasan said at the toss: "We wanted to field first, but it's not in our control. If we can keep wickets in hand we can utilize the last 10 overs. [In the last game] we didn't bat well. If we bat well and keep wickets in hand today, it'll be a good game. To be honest we haven't talked about [the talk in the media] at all, we just want to focus on our performances."
Both the teams lost to Afghanistan in their respective matches.
