Mosaddek appointed captain for final T20I, Mahmudullah replaces Nurul

3rd T20I scheduled for Tuesday at 5pm

Update : 01 Aug 2022, 06:17 PM

Batting all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain has been named captain for the third and final T20I against hosts Zimbabwe.

Mosaddek is taking the role in place of Nurul Hasan who has been ruled out from the remaining of the tour after picking up a fracture on his left index finger during the second T20I of the series in Harare Sunday.

With the series level at 1-1, Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in the decider at Harare Sports Club Tuesday.

On the other hand, veteran Bangladesh campaigner Mahmudullah has been included in the T20I squad for the final game as replacement to Nurul.

Mahmudullah along with Mushfiqur Rahim had made the headlines after the national selection panel had decided to rest them from the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Mahmudullah is already in Zimbabwe as part of the Bangladesh ODI squad.

Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul hurt his finger while keeping against fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, informed a Bangladesh Cricket Board press release following the game.

“We did an X-ray which revealed a fracture to the index finger. Such injuries take about three weeks to recover. He is therefore out of Tuesday's last T20 match and the upcoming ODI series,” said Bangladesh team physio Muzadded Alpha Sany.

Nurul is set to fly out of Harare Monday to return home and continue his treatment and rehab with the ambition of gaining fitness ahead of Bangladesh’s next assignment – the Asia Cup T20 2022, schedule to begin in United Arab Emirates later this month.
