The Bangladesh cricket fans are now almost confirmed to be deprived from watching the series against hosts West Indies live on television. As an alternative, many with the ability are choosing to subscribe the broadcast of the series on ICC.tv (www.icc.tv), as the only legal mean of watching the match live.

The month-long series is scheduled to begin on Thursday night with the Test of the two-match series in Antigua. The Test series will be followed by three T20Is and as many ODIs.

The occasion is the first in about 19 years that the cricket fans in Bangladesh will not be able to see live match of the national team away from home. Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] is helpless in the matter as it is the responsibility of the host board and the other parties involved.

Under such situation the Bangladesh cricket fanatics are choosing to subscribe Bangladesh tour of West Indies live transmission on ICC.tv. The subscription costing USD 2 [Taka 187 approx.] for the whole series however can only be purchased through an international credit card.

Usage of credit card in Bangladesh is still considered a luxury thus not all fans own one and will not be able to gain the access.

The West Indies-Bangladesh blackout issue was triggered by a dispute within a consortium – formed by the two sports TV channels (GTV and T Sports), four marketing agencies of the country and one sports marketing company – Total Sports Management.

TSM is responsible for buying feed from the host country and sell to the other parties of the consortium in Bangladesh.

It has been learnt that the marketing agencies and the broadcasters have been in dispute with TSM over several matters for a long time now and thus decided to boycott purchasing the feed for the West Indies-Bangladesh series.
