Bangladesh-SL Test series talking point: Solid Mushfiq displays batting masterclass

Tigers will surely miss Mushfiq's presence in WI Tests

Update : 28 May 2022, 06:58 PM

Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das showed great temperament and batted solidly in both Tests to give the Tigers some chance.

These two broke quite a few records along the way and scored heavily in three innings although the Tigers were unable to avoid the series loss against the Lankans.

Mushfiq scored a gritty 105-run innings in the first Test in Chittagong and leapfrogged Tamim Iqbal to become the first Bangladeshi to cross the 5,000 run landmark in Tests.

The right-hander played another batting masterclass in the first innings of the Dhaka Test where he scored unbeaten 175 off 355 balls.

He batted for more than 500 minutes in that marathon knock in the first innings against Sri Lanka.

Mushfiq and Liton produced a world record partnership as they added 272 runs for the sixth wicket.

This is the highest partnership in the history of the game when five wickets fell for 25 runs or less.

Mushfiq will miss the upcoming West Indies Tests due to personal reasons and the Tigers will surely miss one of their most experienced and solid batsmen in the batting line-up.
