Bangladesh-SL Test series talking point: Lankan pacers inspire, Tigers pacemen blow cold

Bangladesh pacers paled in comparison to the Lankan pacemen who showed the way

Update : 28 May 2022, 06:47 PM

Sri Lankan pace bowling duo Asitha Fernando and Kasun Rajitha produced magnificent displays of fast bowling in the two Test matches and got their reward with match winning performances.

Fernando took 13 wickets while Rajitha, who got the chance as a concussion substitute in the first Test, bagged 11 in three innings.

Even on the flat deck in the Chittagong Test, Rajitha bowled well and got some quick wickets.

Both the pacers bowled short balls with proper planning according to field set-up in Chittagong and tried to bring something in their favor when batters were batting fluently.

Fernando even achieved a rare feat in the second Test as he became just the third pacer to grab a 10-wicket haul in Bangladesh.

In the three innings they bowled against Bangladesh, Lankan pace attack deployed some specific plans and executed them professionally even in tough conditions for bowlers.

The Tigers batting line-up, particularly their top-order, was rattled in both innings against Fernando and Rajitha in the Dhaka Test.

In contrast, Bangladesh pacers did not produce that much threat.

Khaled Ahmed bowled 46 overs in three innings and could not get any success.

Shariful Islam bowled in just one innings before getting injured.

Ebadat Hossain picked up four wickets in his 39 overs in Dhaka in one innings but conceded 153 runs and was unable to match the intensity level of the Lankan pace bowlers.
