Bangladesh moved to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League standing following their convincing 88-run win against visitors Afghanistan at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city Friday.
With 100 points and 10 wins in 14 games, Bangladesh now sit at the top of the league table and have pushed down England, with 95 points and nine wins in 15 matches, to the No 2 spot.
At No 3 are India with 79 points and eight wins in 12 games followed by Ireland at No 4 with six wins in 18 games, and 68 points.
The 2020–23 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League is taking place from July 2020 to March 2023 and serves as part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process.
It features 13 teams, the 12 Full Members of the International Cricket Council, and the Netherlands, who won the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship to qualify for this competition.
Each team will play an ODI series against eight of the other 12 teams, four series at home and four away.
Each series consists of three ODIs.
Bangladesh ahead of the start of the series against Afghanistan were at No 2 in the standing with 80 points.
The Tigers first increased the lead to 90 winning the first ODI against Afghanistan Wednesday by four wickets and then the second game yesterday to make it 100 points.
Bangladesh with the win also sealed the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan 2-0 with a game to spare.
The home team were lifted by Liton Das' fifth century in the format, and Mushfiqur Rahim's valiant 86.
The duo added 202 runs to the board – the highest third wicket partnership for Bangladesh and fourth highest partnership in terms of runs– and helped the team set 307-run target for the visitors.
