This edition of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 has been an important tournament for some local players who have recently or in recent years dropped from the national team from the white ball set up. Performing well in the BPL could have certainly raised a claim for their spot in the upcoming home series squad against Afghanistan or more importantly the squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia. Here are six players’ performances in that regard in the ongoing BPL after the group stage.
Anamul Haque Bijoy
Wicketkeeper-batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy last played a T20I in 2015. Since then the top-order batsman did not shine enough to get back to the national side. But Anamul’s performance in this year’s BPL is impressive as the right-hander scored 280 runs in nine innings while opening the batting and struck 27 boundaries and 12 sixes overall. The right-hander looked good to the eye in the powerplay and scored some quick runs for Sylhet Sunrisers.
Stat: Anamul scored 280 runs in nine innings with an average of 31.11 and strike rate of 121.73

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat
Everyone can remember Mosaddek's match winning knock in the final of the tri-nation series in Ireland in 2019 against the West Indies where he played a 27-ball 52. But later on, Mosaddek has not performed well enough to cement his spot in white ball cricket for the Tigers. Mosaddek had good performances with the bat this time as the right-hander scored 159 runs in eight innings. But this performance might not be enough for him to earn a call up yet.
Stat: Mosaddek scored 159 in eight innings with an average of 39.75 and strike rate of 143.24

Mohammad Mithun
The experienced middle-order batsman played 17 T20Is so far after making his debut in 2014. Mithun last played T20I during the home series against New Zealand last year. Bangladesh batting has struggled in the recent times in T20Is and this BPL was a good platform for Mithun to reclaim his spot in the national side. But the right-hander had a disappointing outing for Sylhet as he scored only one fifty-plus knock in seven innings.
Stat: Mithun scored 128 runs from seven innings with an average of 21.33 and strike rate of 116.36

Sabbir Rahman
Once considered the perfect package for T20 cricket, Sabbir is a resemblance of wasted talent due to his lack of form and off-field controversies in recent series. This BPL was a great chance for Sabbir to prove his worth again but the right-hander did not perform up to the mark to make a statement. He got his chance in the first six games of the tournament for his team Chattogram Challengers and was not able to make that much impact with the bat which eventually cost his spot in the playing XI.
Stat: Sabbir scored 109 runs from six innings with average of 18.16 and strike rate of 111.22 with high score of 32.

Liton Kumar Das
Liton was dropped from the national team’s T20 home series against Pakistan after a poor T20 World Cup. The right-hander is having a great run of form in Test cricket but his T20 form is poor in recent times. Liton took a break after the New Zealand away Test series and did not take part in the first four games of the group stage. But in the later six matches, he looked in fine touch and played a couple of good innings with some nice stroke play.
Stat: Liton scored 167 runs from innings in the group stage with an average of 27.83 and strike rate of 149.1

Soumya Sarkar
Soumya is another top-order batsman who was under the radar ahead of the Afghanistan series and he had a below par performance in this BPL season. Soumya scored 164 runs in nine innings for Khulna Tigers which is way below expectations considering his caliber. He scored just one fifty-plus innings (82) from nine innings but the most disappointing part of his batting was the strike rate. His strike rate from nine innings was just 109.33 which is very poor for a top-order batter.
Stat: Soumya scored 164 runs from nine innings with an average of 23.42 and strike rate of 109.33
