West Indian opener Andre Fletcher outshone South African batsman Faf du Plessis as Khulna Tigers became the fourth and final team to confirm a playoff berth in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 Saturday.
In a high-scoring encounter of two centuries, Fletcher came out on top as Khulna coasted to their target of 183 against Comilla Victorians with nine wickets and eight balls to spare at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The right-handed Fletcher carried his bat and remained unbeaten on a brilliant 62-ball 101, featuring half a dozen fours and as many sixes; the 20th time an opener struck a hundred in BPL.
This was the tournament's 25th century in total, and the 15th in Mirpur.
Fletcher, who registered his second career T20I ton - both coming in the BPL, put on 182 for the opening wicket with Mahedi Hasan (74 off 49 with six fours and four sixes) - the highest opening stand of this edition, and second best opening partnership ever in BPL history.
Earlier, batting first, Comilla posted 182/5 in their 20 overs, riding on Du Plessis' 54-ball 101, including a dozen boundaries and three over boundaries.
The Victorians will now take on Fortune Barishal in qualifier one at the same venue Monday evening, while Khulna will face off against Chattogram Challengers in the afternoon's eliminator.
