Minister Group Dhaka all-rounder Andre Russell will leave here for the USA Saturday night, dealing a blow to his side's hopes of making the playoffs of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022.
West Indian Russell, who confirmed this development Saturday in a video message, will join a Kolkata Knight Riders fitness camp in Dallas.
Dhaka are currently third with seven points from as many matches, and will next face Chattogram Challengers Tuesday in Sylhet.
The capital city outfit's Friday game against Comilla Victorians in Mirpur was supposed to be Russell's swansong from this BPL edition but inclement weather played spoilsport as the match got abandoned without a ball bowled.
Russell expressed sadness at leaving midway through Bangladesh's premier T20 tournament but said he will be closely following the team's fortunes from Dallas, and wished Mahmudullah's side well before his departure.
The powerful right-hander scored 61 runs in five innings, and also took eight wickets in six matches in BBPL 2022.
