Update : 14 Jun 2013, 05:35 PM

Mashrafe Mortaza, who hurt his ankle during the Bangladesh Premier League in February and subsequently missed tours of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, is recovering quickly and praised the new fitness camp. “I have started running after three- four months but my fitness is still not better than others. There is no pain on my ankle now, so I will try to work on my fitness and I hope I can improve my fitness by this time”, said Mashrafe. The pace bowler was hopeful that he would be ready to play Bangladesh’s next series against New Zealand. “Still I have three months in hand before the New Zealand series which is I think, enough time for me to recover my injury and improve my fitness level,” he said. Regarding the fitness camp, Mashrafe said that the players were being exposed to new methods. “There are some skills which is new to everyone but the trainers knows better than us. Right now they are assessing our fitness and after that, we are going to practice on our skills and after that they are going to test our fitness level.” The “Narail Express” added that the fitness camp is essential for every player and said that the camp will take place during the premier league cricket also. “The fitness camp will go on during the Dhaka league, the players will attend the camp during their matches and work on fitness. Everything will go according to the protocol and I think it will help the cricketers in the long run,” he said. Australian trainer Stuart Karppinen has introduced some new fitness building exercises to the Tigers to improve running ability and boost fitness levels.  One such technique is a high jump routine.
