Chattogram Challengers registered their second win from three games as they beat Khulna Tigers by 25 runs in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 match in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday.

Chasing 191, Khulna managed to score 165 losing nine wickets in their 20 overs.

Middle-order batsmen Yasir Ali scored 40 and Mahedi Hasan made 30 while Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza played a little cameo of 22 but those efforts were not enough for Khulna to pull off the big chase.

Khulna opener Andre Fletcher was injured and retired hurt after being struck by a ball off pacer Rejaur Rahman in the seventh over and the Caribbean batsman was later taken to hospital for precautionary scan.

Earlier, Chattogram made a flying start courtesy of their opening pair Kennar Lewis and Will Jacks who utilized the powerplay playing many attacking shots.

Jacks got out scoring 15 from just seven balls while Kennar made 25 off 14 balls as the openers smashed four sixes and three boundaries jointly.

Kennar was dismissed in the fourth ball of the fourth over but by that time 52 runs had already been on the board.

Skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz scored 30 useful runs in the middle overs off 23 balls with four boundaries.

Sabbir Rahman also scored a handy run-a-ball 32 but when he needed to score some quick runs the right-handed national discard lost his wicket.

In-form Benny Howell batted superbly again and scored four boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 34-run innings of 20 balls.

But it was experienced Naeem Islam who finished the innings in a flourish for the port city outfit as the veteran smashed two huge sixes in the last over bowled by Farhad Reza.

Riding on brilliant start and finish, Chattogram finished their innings on 190 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
