Fletcher doing fine when this report was filed

Update : 26 Jan 2022, 02:16 PM

Khulna Tigers opener Andre Fletcher was hit by a ball awkwardly and stretchered off in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 2022 match in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday.

When this report was filed, Khulna manager Nafees Iqbal said the Windies cricketer was doing fine but kept under observation.

Nafees said, "Fletcher is doing well. He is also in his senses, and not feeling any problems. But since he was hit on the neck, we are being cautious and not taking any risks. If the doctor advises for a scan then it will be done. At the moment it's fine."

Khulna were chasing 191 for victory and the incident happened in the first ball of the seventh over.

It was a length ball from Rejaur Rahman outside off-stump and Fletcher went for a pull shot, missed the timing and the ball hit around his jaw and neck region.

It seemed it missed the helmet grill part and hit his body.

Fletcher, batting on 16 off 12 balls, looked in pain immediately as he held the affected area right away.

Players rushed to him with the batsman looking in real pain, and later stretcher was called in and the opener was taken away from the field.
