Mohammad Mitun scored a double ton in the Bangladesh Cricket League final for Walton Central Zone as the match hangs in the balance after the end of day three Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Central captain and opener Mithun scored 206 while experienced Shuvagata Hom made 116 to help their side post 438 runs and take a 51-run lead in the first innings.
At stumps BCB South Zone were on 43/1 in their second innings, trailing by just eight runs.
Mithun resumed the day on 102 with the overnight total of 184/4.
Mithun and Shuvagata’s fifth wicket partnership, which started on a precarious position of 16/4, continued to thrive on and surpassed the 200-run mark before the latter reached triple figure.
Shuvagata, who resumed on 67, reached 100 off 186 balls before he was pinned in front by Mahedi Hasan for 116 off 219 deliveries that saw their massive partnership of 283 runs broken.
Mithun, however, continued his progress and reached his double ton off 287 balls after lunch and was eying to get a big lead.
Eventually he was dismissed leg before as his side were reduced to 374/6.
Jaker Ali Anik made sure they got a lead before he got out for 53 when the score was 411.
But South seamer Kamrul Islam Rabbi wrapped up the tail by picking up the last four wickets within 27 runs to restrict the lead from getting bigger.
