Taskin rejects PSL offer for England series

Taskin recently recuperated from hamstring injury, and is unwilling to take any risks

Bangladesh right-arm quick Taskin Ahmed has turned down an offer from Pakistan Super League side Multan Sultans considering his fitness amid the upcoming home series against England.

Taskin recently recovered from a hamstring injury and decided not to take any risk before an important white-ball series against the English side.

Multan had offered Taskin to play for three games, till February 26, in the ongoing PSL.

“It is a very important series. It would have looked bad if I had missed any of the matches after accepting a PSL offer for just a few games. As I just recovered from injury, it is important to be fully fit. So, I do not have any regrets,” said Taskin to the media.

Injured Taskin could not participate in the last three games for Dhaka Dominators in the just-concluded ninth edition of Bangladesh Premier League.

He sustained the injury while fielding in a game during the Sylhet phase.

A year ago, Taskin denied another offer from Indian Premier League side Lucknow Super Giants, given that he was on tour of South Africa with the Bangladesh team.

“Board (BCB) gave me an honorarium [for not going to play in the IPL]. So, I do not have any regrets. My main target is to play for the national side in the coming days. If I can do well for the national side then I will definitely get more offers in the future," he added.

England are scheduled to reach Bangladesh this Friday for three one-day internationals and as many Twenty20 internationals.

The ODI series is scheduled to begin on March 1 in Mirpur.

The T20I series will start on March 9 in Chittagong.
