Update : 22 Dec 2022, 07:10 PM

Visitors India trailed Bangladesh by 208 runs at stumps on the opening day of the decisive Mirpur Test match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Thursday.

Openers Shubman Gill and KL Rahul were unbeaten on 14 and three respectively as India posted 19 without loss in reply to Bangladesh's 227 all out.

The hosts lost both the openers - Nazmul Hossain Shanto (24) and Zakir Hasan (15) - in the first session.

Mominul Haque (23) and captain Shakib al Hasan (16) were the unbeaten batters when Bangladesh went into lunch.

But Shakib got out on the first ball after the interval and later Bangladesh also lost the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim (26) and Liton Das (25).

Eventually the Tigers were bowled out in 73.5 overs with Mominul scoring the highest 84 off 157 deliveries, studded with a dozen fours and a six.

India, who won the first Test by 188 runs, were again without injured skipper Rohit Sharma who was replaced by Rahul, reports AFP.

The tourists dropped left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav - player of the match in the first game with eight wickets - and brought in paceman Jaydev Unadkat.

"Hard decision on Kuldeep but we know (Ravichandran) Ashwin and Axar (Patel) can find spin, and bring Jaydev in to cover all bases," said Rahul.

Bangladesh made two changes, bringing in Taskin Ahmed for the injured Ebadot Hossain and Mominul for Yasir Ali.

"If we can survive in the first two hours, we should do well. In Mirpur, it's better for batting and will help spinners later on," said Shakib.
