Update : 23 May 2022, 07:11 PM

Top-order batsman Kusal Mendis left the field and went to hospital after the Sri Lankan player felt chest pain while fielding against Bangladesh during their second Test in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday.

Mendis was fielding on slip cordon during the 23rd over when Sri Lanka pacer Kasun Rajitha was bowling.

Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim left the ball and wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella grabbed the ball and gave it to Mendis.

Then Mendis received the ball and looked in discomfort.

A few moments later he laid down and eventually left the field with the team physio.

Later it was learnt that he was taken to Evercare hospital for check-up and is under observation there.
