Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy put up a solid reply to Sri Lanka's first innings total at the end of day two of the first Test in Chittagong Monday.
Tamim was not out on 35 and Joy was unbeaten on 31 as the home side posted 76 without loss at stumps, replying to the visitors' 397 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The hosts trail the tourists by 321 runs.
Nayeem Hasan earlier bagged six wickets as Angelo Mathews (199) was the last man to be dismissed. .
This was Nayeem’s third five-wicket haul in Tests and his sixth and final wicket was that of Mathews, who just fell short of a double century.
Dinesh Chandimal (66) and Kusal Mendis (54) chipped in with valuable contributions.
Shakib al Hasan took three wickets while Taijul Islam picked up one as the Bangladesh slow bowlers accounted for all 10 wickets.
Sri Lanka had started day two on 258/4.
