CCDM, DPL club officials sit today

Update : 12 May 2013, 05:41 PM

The 12 club officials of Dhaka Premier League will sit in a meeting today with Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan and Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM) to discuss proposed players grading and auction system. If the club officials agree with the terms during their meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, CCDM will immediately ask for the approval of the new system in the Board meeting that is scheduled right after their discussion today. According to the proposed system almost 180 players will be divided into four categories A+, A, B and C with a base price before they are put up on auction.  Chairman of CCDM Jalal Yunus said, “We have not yet finalised the new rule as we are waiting for the clubs’ decision. Only then we are going to decide about the new system and the new rule can help both the cricketers and the clubs.” Meanwhile it was learnt that most of the club officials are in support of the new system as many cricketers demand a lot more money than they should. Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) secretary Debabrata Paul said, “The president will sit with us after the meeting as the Board should also discuss about the players’ benefit with us. “But if the Board takes the decision without our concern and it affects the players, then we will take further decisions after the national team returns from Zimbabwe,” he added.
