Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra suggested that desperate times, indeed calls for desperate measures in the Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders’ camp. Chopra opined that the KKR should replace Eoin Morgan with Bangladesh star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan as the captain.

England cricketer Morgan has experienced a sweltering run in the second leg of the 2021 edition of the IPL with the bat. Morgan has scored just 17 runs in the 4 innings that he has batted in the UAE leg of the tournament, and has not even crossed the 10-run mark in the second half of the tournament.

Adding that he has nothing against Morgan, Chopra opined that the runs have dried up from the current KKR skipper’s willow. Chopra also added that Shakib can help the KKR side by bowling a few overs as well.

“Desperate times, desperate measures. Can KKR contemplate making Shakib the captain for the remaining games? Nothing against Morgan but if runs aren’t coming, they simply aren’t. Can happen to the best of players. Shakib would give a few overs alongside his batting. Thoughts?” tweeted Chopra.

KKR is currently in the 4th spot in the IPL points table with five wins in 12 matches.

The Eoin Morgan-led outfit was beaten by the KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) side on 1st October 2021 in Dubai. Even though the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a challenging total of 165 runs on the board, the Punjab side chased down the target with 5 wickets to spare.

The Kolkata Knight Riders still have two more matches remaining in the league stages of the IPL. While they will lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) side in Dubai on 3rd October 2021, the Kolkata side will play its final league match on 7th October 2021 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) side in Sharjah.
