Mahmudullah hopes Bangladesh bowlers don't leak easy boundaries

Mahmudullah emphasized on the importance of the bowlers maintaining proper line and length on the NZ wickets to ensure boundaries aren't leaked

The challenge for the Bangladesh bowlers will be to set their level of execution as they prepare to take on hosts New Zealand in the three-match ODI series and as many T20s later this month.

T20 captain Mahmudullah in a video a message to the media Monday emphasized on the importance of the bowlers maintaining proper line and length on the New Zealand wickets to ensure boundaries are not leaked.

Bangladesh travelled to Christchurch on February 24 and following a week-long strict hotel quarantine are now involved in practice sessions in small groups.

“I feel the biggest challenge for the bowlers is to make sure their level of execution, and it is also important to set their frame of mind. The length is very important (in New Zealand). The boundaries increase if you do not focus on the length,” said Mahmudullah.

“So we will have to ensure that we do not give away easy boundary options and keep focus, we have to continuously execute proper line and length,” the right-handed batsman added.

Bangladesh travelled to New Zealand with the intention of breaking their jinx of not having won a single match against New Zealand on their soil.

Bangladesh national cricket team will have simpler Covid-19 protocols to follow when they tour Sri Lanka Cricket in April this year.

Mahmudullah informed that their ambition will not be easy to realize bearing in mind the conditions, and the fact that New Zealand are in good form.

The Kiwis in their last three home T20 series have won against the West Indies, Pakistan and Australia.

“New Zealand are in very good form now. They have defeated Australia in T20 series. But we should rather focus on our strength and weakness and not what they have done. That way it will help us with our game and I think if we have the aggressive mindset, we will create some good results,” said Mahmudullah.

Bangladesh team have two more days to go to their 14-day mandatory quarantine.

Negative results in the final Covid-19 test will allow the team to practice as an unit and move around within the country.

Following the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the tourists will travel to Queenstown Wednesday where they will camp for another five days before finally travelling to Dunedin for the first ODI of the series, scheduled to be play on March 20.
