Bangladesh U-19 begin preparation for World Cup

The 24-member Bangladesh U-19 squad started training on Friday under the supervision of coach Damien Wright. The junior Tigers began their preparation for the 2018 U-19 World Cup, scheduled to be held in New Zealand. Earlier, the cricketers reported on Thursday in Mirpur's National Cricket Academy. The former Australian first-class pacer Wright will be in charge of the Bangladeshi U-19 team till the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand. He informed that the training camp will initially focus on fitness and skill sessions, followed by practice matches.

The cricketers are expected to take part in two practice games at the academy ground. However, there are still no international series planned for the Bangladesh youth before the World Cup as the tri-nation series in India was cancelled earlier. Following the training camp, the BCB will announce the final 15-man squad. They will travel to Khulna for a seven-day training camp where Saif Hasan and his troop will play three practice matches against the High Performance Unit on July 13, 15 and 17 in Khulna's Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium.
