All members of WI contingent test Covid-19 negative

According to a Bangladesh Cricket Board official, all the members of Caribbean side have tested Covid-19 negative

All members of the touring West Indies cricket team have received Covid-19 negative result in their first test since arrival in Dhaka. The 38-member West Indies cricket team reached Bangladesh for the month-long tour on Sunday and underwent Covid-19 test on Monday morning.

According to a Bangladesh Cricket Board official, all the members of Caribbean side have tested Covid-19 negative.

Visitors West Indies are currently undergoing a three-day isolation in the team hotel. The visitors have travelled to Bangladesh with Covid-19 negative reports and were needed to clear a Covid-19 test in Dhaka before being allowed to the nets at the Academy Ground Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday. The visitors will be allowed to have local net bowlers after seven days from their arrival to the country.

Following four days of practice in the nets, West Indies team will play an inter-squad one-day warm-up game at BKSP Ground 3 on January 18.

West Indies have reached Dhaka at the back of a Covid-19 issue in the team after fast bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd got tested positive for the virus. Romario was replaced with Keon Harding in the one-day squad for West Indies.

West Indies in the tour will play three ODI and two Tests against hosts Bangladesh. The ODI series is scheduled to start on January 20 in Dhaka.
