Bangladesh are in eighth position in accordance with the latest men’s Twenty20 international ranking, ahead of the likes of current world champion the West Indies and Afghanistan.
The ICC updated the rankings in all three formats Friday and according to its media release, the latest updates took into account all matches played since May, 2019 at 100% and those of the previous two years at 50%.
In the T20I ranking, Bangladesh have 4,583 points from 20 matches, and a rating of 229 (gained two more than the previous ranking).
The Windies also have a rating of 229 but have played 24 games during this period, thus putting Bangladesh ahead fractionally.
The Afghans lost five rating points and now lie in 10th position.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh lost five rating points in the Test ranking, and have 939 points from 17 matches with a rating of 55.
Afghanistan have more rating points (57) and are ahead of Bangladesh in the ranking being shown in the ICC website, the media release stated that the annual ranking does not count the Afghans and Ireland as these two new Test-playing nations have not played enough Tests.
Afghanistan have played only three Tests so far in two years, winning against Ireland and Bangladesh, and losing to India.

In contrast, Bangladesh’s Test performance in 2019 was not impressive at all as they lost twice away to New Zealand, lost at home to Afghanistan by 224 runs and lost twice away to India.
The losses against the Kiwis and the Indians came by an innings margin.
This year has also not been a memorable one thus far for Bangladesh in Tests as they lost away to Pakistan by an innings.
In the ODI ranking, Bangladesh gained one rating point and remain in seventh position with 2,989 points from 34 matches with a rating of 88.
Bangladesh are ahead of Sri Lanka (85 rating), the West Indies (76) and Afghanistan (55) in the top 10.
In the latest ICC rankings, Australia are No 1 in Tests and T20Is, after leapfrogging India and Pakistan respectively.
Current world champion England maintained their stay at the top of the ODI ranking.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh women’s team are in ninth spot in both the ODI and T20I ranking.
