A lot will depend on Cricket Australia’s anti-corruption and security unit manager Sean Carroll’s report after he inspected Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday. In his last day visit to Bangladesh, Carroll had a meeting with RAB before heading to the home of cricket.
“I am very happy with the security plan provided by the BCB but it won’t be appropriate for me to make any comment at the moment. But I will definitely inform CA regarding my satisfaction over the security measures from the BCB. I would like to thank BCB for all the support,” Carroll told the media.
However, when queried if Australia's tour of Bangladesh will go ahead as per the previous schedule, Carroll sounded a diplomatic tone and wasn't willing to make any final comment.
“See, I have already told you that I am happy with the security plan given by the BCB but I can’t say any further regarding the issue at the moment. I will convey my finding regarding the series to CA,” he said.
If everything falls into place, the first Test match will be played before the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, from September 1-5. The second Test, slated for Chittagong, will be held following the holidays.
Earlier, CA postponed its two-Test series in 2015 citing security concerns.
