Since getting Test status back in 2000, Bangladesh cricket has come a long way and the people associated with this game have also reached new heights by sharing their experiences across the world. Shahidul Alam Ratan is one of them. He is the CEO and head of development at Capital Kids Cricket in London that provides a range of cricket-related projects focusing on providing disadvantaged people with the opportunity to participate in healthy, physical activity.
Ratan, who was previously a national coach for the BCB from 2001-08, has also worked as the national coach of Malaysia in the 2008 U-19 World Cup.
The Level 3 coach and coach educator of the ECB, the 46-year old Ratan started his coaching journey in England back in 2008 and gradually worked as the development manager, followed by director of cricket, and finally, the CEO of Capital Kids Cricket.
He also coached various age-level teams during his coaching career in Bangladesh. In England, he has been living with his family, including two children. He is now a British citizen and holds dual citizenship.
Ratan received the ECB national award for grass-roots development in 2016.
