Bangladesh batsman Soumya Sarkar hopes cricket will be back quickly to the field and that the concern of coronavirus epidemic will end soon. Like many other countries, Bangladesh on Monday declared to postpone all kinds of sporting activities in the country due to the coronavirus threats until March 31st.

Following the recommendation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] suspended the ongoing Dhaka Premier League. On the same day, Bangladesh’s last part of the tour of Pakistan had also been deferred.

“It has just been one day. I played my last game yesterday [Monday]. The decision from the board has come for greater benefit. I will hope everyone will remain healthy. It is the most important thing for us now. Cricket can come back if all of us remain healthy. With this down time I am planning to work on my fitness,” said Soumya following a personal gym session at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League got suspended following the first round matches on Monday. BCB through a media release informed to have postponed the 2nd round of matches of the tournament scheduled to be held on Wednesday and Thursday. The board informed of taking further decision on rescheduling and restarting the league according to the health and safety advisory of the Bangladesh Government.
