Chibhabha keen to turn the tables for Zimbabwe

Visitor Zimbabwe will look to turn the tables and break their losing streak when they face host Bangladesh in the three-match ODI series starting at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Sunday.

Zimbabwe have not won an ODI against Bangladesh in the last seven years and their new captain Chamu Chibhabha, who has returned to the side after last playing for them in 2018, is determined to start his new endeavor with a win.

“Our record here against Bangladesh has not been the best, but we want to change that. This is a perfect opportunity for us to do that. Three ODIs and two T20Is are terrific opportunities for us to change things,” said Chibhabha.

Zimbabwe are coming into the series after losing the one-off Test against the host by an innings and 106 runs last week.

However, Chibhabha claimed that this has not demoralized them as the formats are different.

The Zimbabwe captain is also optimistic as he has fond memories of Sylhet, where they won in the last match played by these two sides - a Test in 2018.

“The formats are two different formats and this is the shorter version of the game. I think it suites us more and we would like to play positive and aggressive cricket. I think one day cricket gives us an opportunity to do that,” said Chibhabha.

“We won the Test match [in 2018] and we are playing here again. We know how the wicket plays here so that’s a bonus for us. Leading up to this game, that is something that has given us a bit of boost, because we know the conditions and we have done well in those conditions,” he said.
