There is a big difference in skill and experience between Bangladesh and Pakistan in T20Is, Bangladesh national cricket team head coach Russell Domingo has said.
The coach made the remark while addressing the media after Bangladesh lost the second T20I on the ongoing tour of Pakistan yesterday. The loss means Bangladesh have now lost the T20I series 2-0, with one game left to play.
During the second T20I at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, number nine ranked T20I side Bangladesh elected to bat first but only managed to post 136/6 in their stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan, the number one ranked side in T20Is, chased the total in just 16.4 overs for the loss of only one wicket.
“It was disappointing [Satruday]. I thought we challenged them much more in the first game [on Friday]. It is not an easy wicket to bat on and the average score on this field is 155 or so. In the first game we were about 15 runs short, and today 25 runs short. But then again, that’s why they [Pakistan] rank number one and we rank number nine. At the moment, there is a big difference between the two teams in terms of experience and skill. We have got a long way to go to catch up to them,” Domingo said.

He added that the inexperience of many of the Bangladesh batsmen led them to struggle against a quality Pakistan pace attack.
“Pakistan always has fantastic fast bowlers, particularly in this format. They are good with the new ball, land the yorkers, and get the ball to reverse, so it is very tough for us. In the batting line-up [yesterday], we had [Mohammad] Naim who is playing his fifth T20I, Afif [Hossain] I think might have played nine or ten. Mahedi [Hasan] batted at number three playing his second. So it was a very inexperienced line-up, but hopefully they will be better going forward. They have faced a quality attack on a tough wicket, and I hope they have learned some lessons from it,” the coach said.
Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in the third and final game of the T20I series at the same venue on Monday.
