Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim opted not to be named in the upcoming auction of the Indian Premier League Twenty20.

The IPL auction this season will feature six Bangladeshis in the shape of Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed and Soumya Sarkar.

The player’s registration closed Saturday with 971 players (713 Indians and 258 overseas cricketers) signing up to be a part for the IPL auction, set to take place in Kolkata later this month.

Mushfiq’s decision not to include his name in the auction has come as a surprise to many.

A total of 19 capped and 634 uncapped Indian cricketers, 60 uncapped Indians who have played at least one IPL match, 196 capped and 60 uncapped overseas cricketers, and two cricketers from ICC associate country are set to try their luck in the auction of the most followed franchise T20 league around the globe.
