The Bangladesh Cricket Board has banned usage of mobile phones and electronic gadgets in the lower tier cricket tournaments.
The board Tuesday circulated notice to the Dhaka First and Third Division clubs on the decision of barring usage of electronic gadgets in the dressing room apart from the manager.
The decision from the board has come riding on the back of recent controversial incidents in the lower tier tournament that has been made viral on social media platforms.
The decision has come as a surprise to the clubs’ officials, given it was something new for them.
“We haven’t received this kind of memo earlier. Probably because of the recent controversy regarding the third division league they have taken this decision,” said a club official, requesting anonymity, to the media Tuesday.
As per the memo issued by Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis Monday, players, coaches, officials, team boy and other staffs involved during matchday(s) are not allowed to use mobile phones or electronic gadgets except team manager.

On-field irregularities in lower tier cricket tournaments in the capital had come to attention recently after a video had gone viral on the social media platforms.
The video had brought forward the questionable umpiring in the country’s domestic circuit.
In the video, a number of players were seen accusing two on-field umpires for making biased decisions to help their opposing team win a game.
The incident followed with coach, captain and a player of Dhaka Third Division side Dhaka Royal Cricketers set to receive punishment for misbehaving with the umpires.
“We have issued such a memo because we want to uphold the image of the country’s cricket,” said an official of CCDM.
