Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has decided to cut off his workload by not keeping wickets in Test cricket.
Mushfiq has been dealing with criticism over his wicket-keeping in the longer format of the game, and a decision has finally come from him as he informed of his intention to national team head coach Russell Domingo.
Mushfiq was once adamant of not giving away his role as a wicket-keeper.
It is well established in the dressing room that the 32-year old finds confidence from keeping wickets.
However, it has now been revealed that Mushfiq has altered his mind.

“I am not much interested keeping in Test cricket. The schedule ahead is hectic and I play all the formats in international cricket, and then there is domestic cricket. Having thought a lot, I feel I am putting extra workload on myself,” said Mushfiq to a cricket-based website.
Explaining his decision, Mushfiq informed that he intends to serve Bangladesh for a long time as a cricketer, and has thus put focus on workload management.
“I want to play for a long time for Bangladesh. I need time to think as I am playing all formats. I might have not faced any severe injury but at the same time I did not get enough rest. Thus, I do not want to face any situation where I will need to take off from one or two series,” explained the former Bangladesh captain.
Mushfiq said he already spoke about his decision to Domingo during Bangladesh A’s series against Sri Lanka.
It has been reported that Domingo did not have any reservation against Mushfiq’s decision.
