Bangladesh Women Team added yet another glorious chapter in the annals of country’s cricket as they became the champions of ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier beating Thailand by 70 runs in the final on Saturday.
Sanjida Islam rewrote the history scoring highest ever individual score of 71 not out in Bangladesh women’s cricket history in T20I to help his side reach 130-5 before the bowlers restricted Thailand for 60/7 at Forfarshire Cricket Club, Dundee, Scotland.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh openers Murshida Khatun and Sanjida started the proceeding with sheer dominance as they posted 68 in 10.1 overs to lay the foundation for a big score.
Murshida got out for 33 off 34 but her partner Sanjida kept on the onslaught to make sure the champions put the match beyond their opponents and defend their title, which they won in 2018 at Netherlands, successfully.

Player of the match Sanjida played strokes around the wicket, struck three big sixes with six fours and her brilliant running between the wickets also added some extra runs. Due to her heroics despite the quick wickets in the other end the women in red and green got a big score.
In reply, Thailand, who created the history by qualifying for the Women’s T20 World Championship, were never in the chase with extremely tight and accurate bowling of Bangladesh.
Nahida Akter, the left arm-spinner picked up two wickets with the new ball while captain Salma Khatun and Khadijatul Kobra picked up one each to reduce the East Asian side to 17/4 in nine overs and almost decided the match’s fate.
Number nine batsman Ratanaporn Padunglerd remained not out on 15 off 14 just to reduce the margin of defeat.
Thai bowler Chanida Sutthiruang was adjudged player of the series for picking up 12 wickets in five matches.
