Bangladesh under-19 could not beat hosts England for the fourth consecutive time but the young Tigers remained against their English counterparts as their last encounter in the ongoing tri-nation series ended on a pulsating draw.
Tawhid Hridoy scored a brilliant 104 off 131 balls featuring nine fours but could take only six runs in the last three balls and saw the teams ended on a stalemate in the end.
Chasing hosts’ 256/7, Bangladesh lost their first three batsmen within 61 runs in 12th over but Tawhid and Shahadat Hossain made a formidable partnership of 160 before the latter got dismissed for 76 in 46th over.
Young Tigers lost two more wickets in the late stage of the innings, but Tawhid kept his composure looked set to navigate his side home as they needed nine off the last over.
But Tawhid failed to score in the third ball after he and Avishek Das scored singles in the first two balls of that over respectively to put Bangladesh in the brink of defeat.
But the boy from Bogra picked up a double to reach his ton in the next ball and scored two twos in the last two balls to avoid the defeat.
Earlier in the day England put a good total on the board after losing the toss thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 122 off 143 balls from their opener Jordan Cox.
With the result Bangladesh, the leader of the points table, have now 10 points from seven matches while the bottom side England have just three points from same number of matches.
Bangladesh will face India, who have currently seven points from six games, today before the sides meet in the final on 11th August at Brighton.
