The stage is set for Shathira Jakir Jessy to become the first female commentator from Bangladesh to commentate during international matches on a global platform.
The former national team player turned sports commentator will commentate in Bangla during Bangladesh and India’s match on Indian sports’ channel Star Sports Tuesday.
While there have been plenty of male commentators from Bangladesh who have been part of different international shows previously, Jessy will be the first female commentator from the country to do so.
Jessy left for Mumbai, India yesterday afternoon to appear on the sports channel.
An elated Jessy said, “This is a historic moment for Bangladesh - for the first time ever, a Bangladeshi girl will commentate on Star Sports. It feels great to think I am that person.”
Apart from the Bangladesh-India game, Jessy will also commentate during the England – New Zealand match on July 3 and again on July 4, during the West Indies – Afghanistan encounter.
