Bangladesh middle-order batsman Mahmudullah’s grade one tear injury on his right calf muscle is improving and the experienced cricketer is likely to play their next game against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham Tuesday.
Mahmudullah’s injury looked serious during Bangladesh’s last game against Afghanistan Monday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
The right-hander felt discomfort while batting but still batted and scored 27, forming a crucial 56-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim which helped the Tigers post a challenging total of 262 on the board.
Mahmudullah was seen limping on crutches while leaving the team hotel in Southampton and it appeared uncertain whether he would take part in the crucial game against India.
But after receiving complete rest in the last few days, Mahmudullah’s condition has improved slightly and it is likely that he will play the next match.
Mahmudullah was seen walking in front of their team hotel, Hyatt Regency in Birmingham, without crutches.

Generally, it takes seven to 10 days to recover fully from this kind of an injury.
According to a team source, Mahmudullah is determined and confident that he will play the next game as it will be crucial tie for Bangladesh against one of the title contenders India.
Mahmudullah has scored 27 against Afghanistan, 69 against Australia, 28 against England, 20 against New Zealand and unbeaten 46 against South Africa in the World Cup while batting at No 6 for the Tigers.
Bangladesh have seven points from as many matches, including three wins.
After the India game, the Tigers will take on Pakistan in their final group stage match at Lord’s in London.
Bangladesh need to win both matches, and hope for other favorable results in order to make it to the semi-final.
