Mushfiq and Mahmudullah look to steer Tigers to victory

Bangladesh lost Tamim, Shakib and well-set Soumya to Ashley Nurse's superb bowling

Update : 13 May 2019, 04:16 PM

In their run-chase, Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar formed a decent opening partnership for the Tigers before Tamim, Shakib and Soumya were sent back to the dressing room by Ashley Nurse. Mushfiqur Rahim and Md Mithun looked to rebuild the Tigers innings and ensure a final berth in the Tri nation series in Ireland before the latter was bowled by Holder on 43 off 53.

Bangladesh bowlers did a commendable job as they contained West Indies for 247-9 in 50 overs on a batting friendly condition.

Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers as he got 4/43 while Mashrafe Mortaza, who got vital wickets, bagged 3-60. Shakib al Hasan did a great job conceding just 27 in 10 overs.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe  got vital wickets of Shai Hope and Jason Holder in consecutive overs to halt West Indies progress late in the innings when they seemed to eye for a much bigger score.

The experienced Bangladeshi bowler break the 100-run partnership between Hope and Holder by getting rid of the former for 87 before dismissing the latter for 62.

Hope scored three consecutive centuries against the Tigers before this match.

Mustafizur  got two wickets in quick succession to push Windies in the back foot before the century partnership somewhat resurrected the innings.

Mustafiz trapped Jonathan Carter in the first ball of the 24th over to reduce West Indies to 99/4. He dismissed Roston Chase in the first ball of his second over to get the third wicket of West Indies four overs ago.

The left-handed bowler, who was struggling recently, forced the right handed batsman to lob a mistimed shot at the leg side with his trademark cutter.

Mehidy Miraz got the second wicket when sent back Darren Bravo in the 11th over, after dropping him in the previous over.

Earlier, Mashrafe Mortaza dismissed Sunil Ambris to break the opening partnership after West Indies had won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh during their tri-nation ODI series match at Malahide Cricket Club in Malahide, Dublin on Monday.

Bangladesh have made one change to the squad as pacer Abu Jayed Rahi has been included replacing all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin.

Bangladesh XI: Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Jayed Rahi.

West Indies XI: Jason Holder (capt), Shai Hope (wk), Sunil Ambris, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Jonathan Carter,  Raymon Reifer, Fabian Allen, Ashley Nurse, Sheldon Cottrell, Kemar Roach.
