Bangladesh’s second ODI of the tri-nation series against host Ireland has been called off due to rain and wet outfield at the Village, Malahiade Cricket Club in Dublin Thursday.
The pitch was under cover all day long and the match was finally called off at 2:18pm local time without a ball being bowled.
Even, there was no toss between the two captains, Ireland’s William Porterfield and Bangladesh’s Mashrafe bin Mortaza.
“We are a bit disappointed that the game has been washed out, because we wanted to win this game. A win [Thursday] could have put us in a very strong position. But we can do nothing about the weather. You have the chance of picking up five points [Thursday], with a bonus point. If one of your matches get washed out, that means you get two points and possibly lose three points. The situation is same for the Ireland team as well. So it’s a frustrating day overall for both the teams as there was no cricket,” said Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes after the match was called off.

Bangladesh won the first ODI against the West Indies convincingly by eight wickets Tuesday at Clontarf Cricket Club.
The Tigers have a three-day break before their next match against the Windies, which will be played at the same ground.
Bangladesh players did not practice Wednesday due to rain and Thursday's match was also called off.
So following two days off from the field for the players, they will return to training at Pembroke Cricket Club if the weather permits.
