Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to return home and join the national camp starting from April 23. The Bangladesh squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and the tri-national series in Ireland are scheduled to start practice from April 22.

The BCB was mulling to bring back Shakib from the ongoing Indian Premier League T20. The left-handed all-rounder has not played enough in the money-spinning tournament for Sunriseres Hyderabad and the board was in thought to call the cricketer back and give him some chance to practice with the Bangladesh team.

The BCB president Nazmul Hassan on Monday made the board reach out to Shakib and get his opinion regarding his chances to join the camp.

“The camp starts on April 22 and Shakib will join the following day,” said BCB cricket operations chairman Akram Khan following the declaration of Bangladesh squad on Tuesday.

Since recovery from his finger his finger injury, Shakib has played only one game when Sunrisers took on Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening game of the season on March 24. The Bangladesh all-rounder has been out of favour since then as Sunrisers have played seven matches in the season until Tuesday.

BCB national chief selector Minhajul Abedin informed that the team think-tank are mulling to put Shakib at number three, a batting spot that has been a concern for Bangladesh in ODI for long now.

“A final decision on this will however be made by the coach and the captain. We will think more on it when the camp starts. We will discuss how we are looking into the tri-nation series in Ireland first and then the World Cup,” said Minhajul.
