Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated Prime Bank Cricket Club by a big margin of 133 runs in Savar to keep their hope alive of qualifying for the Super Six stage

All the three matches of the Dhaka Premier League were affected by downpour Monday as the results were decided by the Duckworth/Lewis method.

Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated Prime Bank Cricket Club by a big margin of 133 runs in Savar to keep their hope alive of qualifying for the Super Six stage.

Mohammedan batsman Raqibul Hasan struck a century as the side took a leap into the top six of the points table, and boosted their Super League chance.

With a group stage game to spare, Mohammedan now have five wins in 10 matches.

Mohammedan were looking for a win in the game to get closer to a berth in the Super Six League phase of the tournament, and it came in the blessing of rain.

Mohammedan, one of the fading giants in the Bangladesh sports arena, were invited to bat first by the opposition and the side, boosted with Raqibul’s maiden century of the season, posted 296 for nine in 50 overs.

Raqibul, now the second highest-scorer of the tournament this season with 510 runs, scored 102 off 104 balls after Mohammedan were off to a below-par start losing the top three batsmen in quick succession. 

Middle-order batsman Rajat Bhatia added 66 to the tally.

Following rain interruption, Prime Bank were given a revised total of 284 in 39.1 overs. 

The side however, managed 150 losing nine wickets as Sohag Gazi picked up four wickets to give Mohammedan the edge. 

Middle-order batsman Nahidul Islam’s 28 off 31 deliveries was the highest of Prime Bank’s innings.
