League leader Abahani Limited defeated Gazi Group Cricketers by 29 runs, riding on Mashrafe bin Mortaza’s six-wicket haul in their Dhaka Premier League match at BKSP in Savar Friday.
Gazi Group opted to bowl first at BKSP against Abahani.
Openers Jahurul Islam Omi and Soumya Sarkar made a good start as they posted 66 before Soumya got out scoring 29 off 36 balls.
But Jahurul was brilliant at the other end, and carried his innings with another brilliant century.
The in-form right-hander guided his team until the last over, and eventually scored 130 off 138 deliveries with 14 fours and a couple of sixes.
This is Jahurul’s second century this season, and fourth overall in his List A career.
Abahani captain Mosaddek Hossain also played a vital knock of 71off 76 balls with eight boundaries.
Abahani finished their innings on 286 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Nasum Ahmed took two wickets each for Gazi Group.
In reply, Gazi Group lost the wicket of opening batsman Rony Talukdar in the second ball of the innings as the experienced Mashrafe initiated the success for the Sky Blues in the very first over.
Mashrafe also took the wicket of Mysukur Rahman in the 11th over.
Gazi Group captain Imrul Kayes played a superb innings, registering 126 off 118 deliveries with 15 fours and five sixers.
But no other batsmen provided any significant support as Imrul’s valiant effort went in vein in the end.
Mashrafe dismissed Imrul in the 37th over and that proved to be crucial for Abahani
Gazi Group were all out for 247 as Mashrafe, the veteran right-arm pacer, finished with bowling figure of six for 46.
He was later adjudged man-of-the-match.
