Junior Tigers off to winning start

The two teams will now contest a three-youth ODI series, with the first match taking place at the same venue Tuesday

Bangladesh U-19 cricket team were off to a winning start in their month-long series against England as the former won the solitary T20 by seven wickets at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar Sunday.

Batting first, the visiting side posted a modest 120 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, George Hill top-scoring for his side with 34.

Bangladesh’s Tanzim Sakib led the bowling attack for the home side with four wickets conceding 30 runs from his quota of four overs.

In reply, the junior Tigers reached their destination with seven balls to spare, Mahmudul Hasan scoring the highest 44.

Parvez Hossain and Tanzid Tamim chipped in with 33 and 28 respectively.

Hill bagged two wickets for England.

The two teams will now contest a three-youth ODI series, with the first match taking place at the same venue Tuesday.

The second and third game will be held Thursday and Saturday.

The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium will then host two four-day matches between the two teams.
